Vendors & Filaments

Vendors and filaments form the catalog that spools are created from.

Vendors​

A vendor is a filament brand (Prusament, eSun, Polymaker, ...) with a default empty-spool weight, used to estimate remaining filament when a spool doesn't override it.

Deleting a vendor that still has filaments attached asks for confirmation and offers a cascade delete (removing its filaments, and any spools of those filaments, along with it).

Vendor icons​

Click the search icon next to a vendor's name (when adding one, or while editing an existing one) to look up candidate logos via DuckDuckGo image search. Pick the one that looks right and it's downloaded, resized, and stored with the vendor — there's nothing to host or link to yourself, and the icon keeps working even if the original source page changes or goes away later. Icons can be changed or removed again at any time from the same place.

Filaments​

A filament is a specific material/color combination from a vendor — e.g. "PLA Galaxy Black" from Prusament. Each filament records:

  • Material (PLA, PETG, ABS, ...) and a color, either picked from a palette or entered as a custom hex value
  • Cost and full spool weight, used as defaults when creating spools of this filament
  • An optional override empty-spool weight, if this specific filament ships on a different spool than the vendor's default

Importing from SpoolmanDB​

Rather than typing out every field by hand, Import from SpoolmanDB looks up a filament from the community-maintained SpoolmanDB catalog and pre-fills material, color, weight, and density — you only need to add your own cost.
